Okay fellow muggles - if you've read it, what did you think? Were you pleased with how Ms. Rowling ended the series? Post your thoughts, comments, reviews ,etc. But be sure to put [SPOILER] warnings when talking about plot points, as we wouldn't want to accidentally give anything away to those who haven't read it yet. As for me, I've got four chapters left, so I shall post my thoughts in the next day or two. However, up to this point, I say 'so far, so good!' What a fantastic, exciting novel!
it's good i'm a little bit more than halfway. I already know the ending and it wraps up good but I personally don't like the ending.
Just wanted to say that I did finish this book quite awhile ago - and it really was a terrific ending. I must say, however, that the little postscipt chapter (for those who have read it - you will know what I'm talking about) seemed kind of tacked on, and I would have preferred the book end after the final battle. But other than that one small point, I found the book to be extremely enjoyable and well worth the read - as are all the Harry Potter books in m y opinion.
I really enjoyed the book. My normal routine was to get the books from the mailbox and start reading them on the porch immediately, but I was at the cabin this time, so hubby had to fedex it to me. I liked it. There were a few twists which made it fun. I know what you mean about the postscript, but I sort of liked how she ended it that way. Made it final. You know the fans would want to know everything to the very end. I'm bummed no more will be arriving by owl to my mailbox...

I think we should put a *spoiler* notice in the post title so we can really talk about it!

I know what you mean. I read the last few chapters at a snail's pace because I didn't want it to end. I was literally saddened in my heart when the last paragraph was read and there was nothing left but the end papers. It felt like I had to say goodbye to a lifelong friend. How's that for being melodramatic?
I'm no writer, but I think that would of been more entertaining as a bonus chapter for the movie, rather than in the book.

Perhaps the screenplay will make a bit more detailed of an ending. The jump ahead by nearly 20 years did seem like an attempt to satisfy the curiosity of the readers as far as what happens in Harry's future.

I hope they do something with Proff. Trelauney, as a sort of crystal ball gazing, that would definatly explain why things seemed like a peek into the future, and not reveal much detail.

This is something I've run across on other forums, It either seems
"tacked on" or it doesn't satisfy all of the questions left over from the series. Thusly, it seems like a shallow attemp at closure.

While I enjoyed the final entry, I have the notion that it might of been something that the book could of done without. However, when the movie comes out, it may have made a great surprise to have at the end. Which would go into a bit more detail than just the families at the Hogwarts Express Platform 9 3/4. A sort of montage of their lives and end at the platform 9 3/4.
